The Comité des Fêtes included pumpkin in all the dishes to the great delight of adults and children alike.

Last Saturday, the 27th October 2007, in brilliant sunshine, parents and children gathered together from 16.00hrs to carve out at least twenty pumpkins in all shapes and sizes.

At nightfall, about 19.00hrs (summer time!), children and adults went to beg for sweets in the streets of the village while volunteers arranged the pumpkins on window ledges and other surfaces suitable for the display.

This year, the weather had been unsettled, the harvest was modest but nevertheless sufficient to supply enough to prepare, for 2 days, 150 dinners served in the evening in the Salle des Fêtes.

On the menu: Pumpkin soup, crudités, then beef with pumpkin purée. Finally, to finish, a delicious tart - pumpkin tart, of course!! (Each dish contained a defined variety of pumpkin from the cucurbits horticultural family).

Everyone went home saying "Until next year" but, by then, the volunteer gardeners of the comité des Fêtes will have their work cut out (the products used were cultivated by our good selves).
